Biography
Destiney Peters has studied dance for more than 15 years in   the
areas of ballet, modern, jazz, and lyrical.  She received formal
training at the Centre for the DansArts in Little Rock, AR under the
direction of C. Michael Tidwell, to whom she credits her development
as a dancer.  She was also a dance instructor at the center for 8
years teaching all age groups.  After high school, Destiney was
accepted into the modern dance program at the University of
Oklahoma under the direction of Denise Vale and Derek Minter.  She
later auditioned and became a member of the OU modern dance
company.  Destiney later returned to Little Rock where she received
a minor in dance performance from the University of Arkansas-Little
Rock.

Destiney was a 10 year member of The Tidwell Project Dance
Ensemble, under the direction of C. Michael Tidwell. She traveled
with “The Project” and performed at several local events such as the
Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission
Youth conference, local churches and various fraternity and sorority
conferences and banquets.  The project also performed at
universities throughout the state.  These universities include the
University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas State University, University
of Arkansas-Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas at Pine
Bluff.  The Tidwell Project Dance Ensemble has also won several
awards at local dance competitions.  She has performed in the
presence of Bishop T.D. and first Lady Serita Jakes, Former
President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton, Maya Angelou,
Former Miss Arkansas winners as well as other prominent and
distinguished individuals.

While attending the University of Oklahoma, Destiney began
receiving training in modern dance using the “Graham Technique”
and the “Horton Technique”, under the direction of Denise Vale and
Derek Minter.  She also worked with Earl Mosley and “KenLee”
during her time at OU.  While studying modern dance, she also had
the opportunity to perform at local events as a member of the OU
modern dance company.  After returning home to Little Rock,
Destiney received a minor in the area of dance performance.  At the
university she received training from Ms. Mievska and “Ms. Dot”.
The formative training from each of these individuals has had an
immeasurable affect on her career as a dancer and for that she is
truly grateful.

Currently Destiney is a member of the Potter’s House dance ministry,
Before His Throne.  Within this ministry, she is able to use her gift of
dance to glorify and praise the Lord Jesus Christ through solos and
group ministry.  She ministers every 1st and 3rd Sunday with the
team and every 3-4 months for special presentations.  During the
summer of 2007, the team hosted its first annual dance conference,
for which she was invited to be the technical instructor. There were
more than 300 people in attendance.  Upon completion of the
conference, she was invited by Mickye Castillo, the dance director of
Before His Throne, to hold technique workshops every 1st and 3rd
Tuesdays for the dance team.   Being able to serve the house of the
Lord in this capacity has been one of the greatest honors she has
ever received.

Destiney is also a member of Freedom in the Dance Ministries,
FITD, which is an evangelistic dance ministry directed by Mickye
Castillo.  Freedom in the Dance has performed at numerous
